Sløtface share new single “Final Gørl”

Norwegian alt outfit Sløtface returns with their latest single “Final Gørl”.

Offering a fresh take on traditional feminine stereotypes. Fronted by Haley Shea, the band challenges the archetype of the virginal 'final girls' seen in horror movies, presenting instead a portrayal of "lazy losers" in the spotlight.

Produced in collaboration with Preben Sælid Andersen, "Final Gørl" marks a new chapter in Sløtface's musical journey. Shea's songwriting delves into themes of rebellion against societal expectations, particularly those imposed on women.

Talking about the track Shea said:

“In these movies the final girl is pure and virginal and better than all the other more overtly sexual women in the movie, which is why she survives. I wanted to flip the script on that, so the “I” character in Final Girl is saying no to all those rules about who she has to be. In the song I’m singing a lot of lines to the killer in a horror movie, very aware of what genre I’m in, and saying “no thanks, I don’t really want to be a part of these expectations”. To me it symbolizes that women are often expected to try so hard to be liked and be everything to everyone, and in this song I’m embracing that we as women can also be lazy losers.”

The track, which explores the trope of the 'final girl' in horror movies, symbolizes a refusal to conform to traditional gender roles. Shea confronts these expectations head-on, asserting agency and autonomy over her own identity.

"Final Gørl" will be performed live at select European cities throughout the spring and summer, including appearances at festivals such as 2000 Trees in Cheltenham, UK.
