Slung release confessional debut single "Neurotic"

Introducing your new fave band alt-grunge quartet Slung. With their debut single, “Neurotic,” out now via Fat Dracula, Slung is making waves with a sound that blends raw 90s slacker rock energy and deeply personal lyricism. The band’s powerful entrance into the music scene reveals their emotional depth, capturing feelings of vulnerability, fear, and disempowerment.

“Neurotic” opens with ominous tones before building into a blistering crescendo, all while frontwoman Katie Oldham delivers an unfiltered, confessional performance. The track taps into the fear of losing control over life’s unpredictable moments. Oldham’s lyrics resonate with anyone grappling with anxiety, imposter syndrome, or the crushing weight of failure. “There’s something quite validating about hearing someone admit to things they’re not proud of, but not ashamed of either,” Oldham explains, adding that the song is built around small, personal moments from her life that symbolize a larger struggle with helplessness and relinquishing control.

Whether it’s feeling powerless as a passenger in a bad situation or recurring dreams of fading superpowers, “Neurotic” beautifully captures those moments where fear and uncertainty take hold. Oldham describes the track as a representation of raw vulnerability and emotional truth—an anthem for anyone who’s felt like they’ve lost control.

With roots scattered across Europe but Brighton as their spiritual home, Slung combines sinister riffs, tight drumming, and sweetly melodic vocals. Formed in 2023, the group—comprising former members of Sit Down, The Death of Us, and Intechnicolour—quickly found their groove, writing and recording their debut album with lightning-fast chemistry.

As Slung continues to win over fans with their captivating sound, the band has announced a series of UK and EU tour dates, offering the perfect chance to experience their intense and unmissable live performances. Kicking off on September 19th at The Black Heart in London, where they’ll be supporting Masca, Slung is set to take the stage in some of the UK’s most iconic venues. On 5 October, they will return to Brighton to perform at Dust, supporting Gaffa Tape Sandy. As the tour progresses, Slung will visit Alton’s The Lounge Bar on 25 October, followed by a gig at Cheltenham’s The Frog & Fiddle on 26 October. Shortly after, the band will rock Reading’s Purple Turtle on 30 October and put on a special Halloween set at Brighton’s The Hope on October 31st.

The tour continues in November, starting with a performance at Bristol’s Exchange Basement on November 2nd. The band will then take their gritty sound to Europe, playing at Sala Wurlitzer in Madrid on November 14th, Pub Terra in Castellon on November 15th, and 16 Toneladas in Valencia on November 16th. Upon their return to the UK, Slung will hit The Apple & Parrot in Torquay on November 22nd and London’s The Victoria on November 24th. Wrapping up the tour in December, they’ll perform at JT Soar in Nottingham on December 6th, and conclude at Alphabet in Brighton on December 7th.

Slung is made up of a powerhouse lineup: Katie Oldham on vocals, Ali Johnson on guitar, Ravi Martin on drums, and Vlad Matveikov on bass.
