Supermilk announce third album ‘High Precision Ghosts’
Supermilk, the North London indie-punk quartet, is set to release their third studio album, High Precision Ghosts, on 9 August through Specialist Subject Records.
The album follows their well-received previous works and marks a significant step as it is the first to feature their full band setup. It was rapidly completed, mixed, mastered, and sent to the pressing plant shortly after recording, a process influenced by Popyura’s urgent approach to life following his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). This diagnosis has imparted a poignant layer to the band’s creative output, infusing their music with an acute awareness of time and vitality.
High Precision Ghosts promises to deliver a mix of angular 80s post-punk and fuzzy 90s indie rock, creating a sound that is both raw and confidently polished. The album explores themes of toxic relationships and their lingering effects, metaphorically described by Popyura as ghosts that continue to haunt.
In anticipation of the album, Supermilk has released the single "Sweat". The release of "Sweat" follows the band's distinctive style, offering an urgent and hypnotic slice of indie-punk with hints of Devo. The track showcases the band's unique blend of sounds, creating an engaging listening experience that's both nostalgic and fresh.
Frontman Jake Popyura shared:
"Sweat is in reality, just a highly relatable song about getting sweat in your eyes, because God knows we've all been there."
Supermilk began as Popyura's solo project in 2017 and has since evolved into a dynamic four-piece. The current lineup includes guitarist/vocalist Em Foster, drummer Jason Cavalier, and guitarist Charlie Jamison, who joins following Sophie MacKenzie’s departure.
The band has quickly made a name for themselves within the UK's DIY music scene, known for their tight live performances and an uncompromising blend of musical styles. Their upcoming album, High Precision Ghosts, is poised to be another standout addition to their discography, reflecting their growth as artists and their resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
