Gigi Gold announces debut EP ‘Souvenirs’

Gigi Gold, a rising star in the alternative folk-scene, is set to release her debut EP Souvenirs on 17 July via Marshall Records.

The announcement coincides with the release of the EP's first single, "Why Should I," which is now available for streaming.

Born in West Virginia and now based in the UK, Gigi Gold has crafted an EP that blends elements of folk, rock, and blues, reflecting her wide-ranging musical influences. The EP encapsulates themes of self-discovery, empowerment, and introspection, delivered through Gigi's distinctive vocal style and poignant lyricism.

"Why Should I," the lead single from Souvenirs, is described by Gold as a song about reclaiming personal power and challenging societal expectations. It's a track that combines powerful lyrics with a blend of bluesy guitars and robust drumming, showcasing Gigi's ability to meld classic rock sensibilities with a modern edge.

The upcoming EP promises to take listeners on a narrative journey, with tracks that evoke imagery of cinematic landscapes and personal tales. Gigi explains that the writing process was a natural progression of self-expression, stating, "I walked into this project not knowing what I wanted it to be, but the beauty of it is not having a preconceived notion."

Accompanying the single release is a music video, which further illustrates the themes of the song and gives fans a visual taste of what to expect from the full EP.

In addition to her upcoming EP release, Gigi Gold will be performing live at this year’s Hanwell Hootie in London on 11 May, where fans can experience her dynamic performance style firsthand.t
