SUPERMILK release new single "Many Thanks"

North London-based indie-punk quartet SUPERMILK has just released their latest single "Many Thanks," accompanied by an official music video. This new track is the second single from their forthcoming LP, High Precision Ghosts, which is set for release on 9 August via Specialist Subject Records.

High Precision Ghosts marks SUPERMILK's third studio album and their first as a full-band project. The album, produced by Rich Mandell of ME REX and Happy Accidents, showcases a raw and confident sound that blends angular 80s post-punk with fuzzy 90s indie rock.

"MANY THANKS" is a spikey post-punk track reminiscent of bands like Devo, B52s, and XTC.

Frontperson Jake Popyura explains that the song addresses his real "sometimes unhealthy relationship with releasing music, and the feeling of alienation that comes with seeing people lose their minds over bands that you think are objectively terrible". The accompanying video features quick cuts of the band members mouthing the song's lyrics against a sped-up collage of four of their favorite movies: Braindead, Tank Girl, Return of the Living Dead, and Freaked.

This album comes after Popyura’s ALS diagnosis earlier this year. Despite this, he remains determined to continue making music.

Popyura says:

"[I'm] determined to crack on and not take anything for granted… we have shows lined up and you bet your able-bodied ass we'll be ploughing ahead with those plans, even if I have to sit down for all of it."

SUPERMILK's music has been described as a mix of power-pop and indie rock, drawing comparisons to bands like XTC, Guided by Voices, Weezer, and Devo. Their previous singles "Sweat" and "Freaking Out" received acclaim from critics and fans alike.

The band, which includes guitarist/vocalist Em Foster, drummer Jason Cavalier, and newest member Charlie Jamison, has been actively performing and building a reputation in the UK’s DIY music scene. They have played alongside notable acts such as Cheekface, Speedy Ortiz, Martha, Lande Hekt, and Algernon Cadwallader.

High Precision Ghosts features ten tracks, each exploring themes of toxic relationships and personal struggles. The album includes standout songs like "Robot Talk," "Christine," and "Do Not Pass Go," each delivering SUPERMILK's signature blend of post-punk and indie rock.
