Tether. announce debut EP ‘Mirror Work’

London-based post-hardcore outfit Tether. have shared their single "Straight With Me." as the band gears up to release their debut EP, Mirror Work, on 21 June.

Ahead of the EP launch, Tether. will be supporting Dayshifter at The Fighting Cocks in Kingston on 26 April. Additionally, they've announced a special EP release show at The Black Heart in Camden on 27 June, with tickets already on sale.

Reflecting on the single, frontman Justin delves into the complexities of band dynamics, likening it to a long-term relationship where compromises and frustrations often arise. The track encapsulates the struggle to navigate shared aspirations amid differing visions.

Justin’s statement on “Straight With Me” in full:

"I think writing this song reflected and summed up all the frustrations that band members have, and also have with each other. I say this all the time, 'being in a band is like being in a marriage.' You're coupled up, sometimes realising that you've now found incompatibilities, but then sometimes you're too far in to quit. The frustration of being in a long term situation you love, with people you love, where you sometimes don't see eye to eye. Trying to keep your mouth shut to appease others, but hold back and bite your tongue to avoid a build of tension."

"The line 'we can't read the same book expecting a different ending' is about understanding that you're on a similar path to someone that has different visions of the outcome, and the frustration involved with that, but we all have to bend sometimes in order to make things perfect, which usually can only be seen in hindsight. 'Walk, Straight With Me, instead of going round in circles' is about rationalising and understanding a situation in order to move forward and achieve your united goal, otherwise no one moves forward."

Formed in 2018, Tether. channels influences from stalwarts like Every Time I Die and letlive., infusing their music with introspection and raw energy. Their journey has seen them share stages with renowned acts such as Hawthorne Heights and Blood Youth, carving a niche in London's underground scene.

Produced by MyKey Kew at Rogue Recording Studios, Mirror Work promises to be a testament to the band's evolution and dedication. With further details and live dates yet to be announced, Tether. is poised to make waves in the post-hardcore landscape.
