VUKOVI announce ‘MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN’ their most aggressive and ambitious album to date
After a year of touring, VUKOVI are set to return with MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN, their fourth studio album, scheduled for release on 24 January 2025 via SharpTone Records. Produced by Machine in the heart of Texas at the legendary Machine Shop studio, the record brims with the fiery intensity of the band’s time in the Lone Star State. Vocalist Janine Shilstone and guitarist Hamish Reilly have channelled their creative energies into twelve tracks that explode with raw emotion and unapologetic ferocity.
The album’s title alone hints at a shift toward a darker, more provocative narrative. Shilstone describes the new work as “songs that will speak to places we've all been, but few have heard.” Such a statement sets the tone for a record that promises not just to be heard but to be felt. The band’s signature blend of alt-rock and electro-pop is evident, but there’s a palpable edge that marks MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN as a decisive evolution.
Kicking off the campaign is the single “GUNGHO,” a pulsating anthem that signals a bold new era. The track bursts out of the gate with razor-sharp riffs and Shilstone’s unmistakable vocal dynamism, pushing the band’s sonic boundaries further than ever before. The accompanying music video, already racking up views online, serves as a visceral visual introduction to the album’s overarching themes of aggression, defiance, and vulnerability. Fans are calling it the band’s most daring visual release yet, and it’s just the start.
The full tracklist for MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN is a heady mix of visceral cuts, featuring titles like “THIS IS MY LIFE AND MY TRAUMA” and “FALLEN BEYOND.” There’s also “FUC KIT UP,” a fiery piece that echoes the chaotic spirit of their live shows, and “COWBOY,” which hints at their time spent recording in Austin. While songs like “PEEL” and “KITTY” keep listeners on their toes, the LP ends with the brooding “FIRE KINGDOM,” available only on the vinyl edition.
To support the album, VUKOVI will embark on a headline tour across the UK and Europe in early 2025. Kicking off in Eindhoven on February 19th, the tour will wind through major European cities, concluding with a homecoming show at Glasgow’s SWG3 Galvanizers on March 9th. With support from rising acts UNPEOPLE and ARTIO, it promises to be a run of unmissable shows that showcase the full force of the band’s live energy.
The band have also unveiled an array of album formats that are bound to appeal to collectors. Fans can choose from a red, black, and white splatter LP limited to 500 copies, a half-and-half black and white pressing exclusive to the US, and the standard black LP available via various retailers. A jewelcase CD edition rounds out the offerings, ensuring that MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN will find its way into the hands of listeners worldwide.
With MY GOD HAS GOT A GUN, VUKOVI are making a statement—one that’s loud, clear, and impossible to ignore. January 2025 can’t come soon enough.
