Irish post-rock icons And So I Watch You From Afar (ASIWYFA) have announced their seventh album, Megafauna, is set to drop on 9 August, marking their first release under Berlin's Pelagic Records.
A homage to their roots in Portrush and Belfast, Megafauna is a poignant exploration infused with the warmth of camaraderie and the wit of four lifelong friends approaching two decades in the industry. As the band's first release since the pandemic-induced hiatus, this album serves as a heartfelt ode to the communities that have shaped their journey.
Megafauna was born out of solidarity, with the band members finding solace in their collective creativity during uncertain times. Recorded in just one week, the album bursts forth with the energy of collaboration, offering a refreshing blend of spirited guitar riffs, dynamic basslines, and driving drums.
Lead single “Do Mór” exemplifies the album's ethos, marrying playful guitar melodies with ASIWYFA's trademark wall-of-sound distortion. It sets the tone for an album that embraces both euphoric highs and introspective moments, signaling a triumphant return for the band.
Following the experimental Jettison in 2022, Megafauna marks a return to the band's roots while embracing newfound growth and maturity. It's a bold declaration of resilience and unity, resonating with listeners as a testament to the power of community amidst adversity.
In anticipation of the album's release, And So I Watch You From Afar will grace the 15th Edition of Pelagic Fest in Maastricht, NL on 24-25 August. UK fans can catch them live at ArcTranGet Festival on 14-17 August and in December as they embark on a nationwide tour, with dates in Manchester, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Glasgow, and Nottingham.
