BEX takes on social media expectations with new single "sunDae”

British creative force BEX returns in 2024 with her latest single, "sunDae," a playful critique of the pressure to maintain perfection in the age of social media and marks her first release as an entirely self funded artist.

The track, accompanied by a thought-provoking music video, challenges the unrealistic standards imposed by online platforms and advocates for self-acceptance in a world obsessed with image.

The infectious energy of "sunDae" blends hard rock, electronic elements, and pure pop sensibility, promising to resonate with audiences nationwide. The song's inspiration stemmed from a dreary British day and a shared appreciation for cows among the songwriters, resulting in playful cow noises woven throughout the track

Talking about the single BEX said:

“sunDae is about the expectation of having to be and look perfect all the time even when the world isn't. The irony of the constant British drizzly days compared to the expectation of perfection that social media has put on us as a generation. We are requesting only the same from the weather as what the world expects of us. It's a love song of expectation and disappointment. No one can achieve unrealistic goals and we all need to stop being so hard on ourselves all the time, social media isn't real.”

BEX's groundbreaking debut EP, SCUM, released via Scruff of the Neck Records in 2023, garnered widespread acclaim from both fans and press. Tracks like "Filfy," "SPYD4 K1NG," and "Don't Date The Devil" showcased BEX's unique voice and garnered attention for their impassioned messages.

Beyond her music, BEX's creativity extends to visual and wearable art, with merchandise items handcrafted by the artist herself. Her distinctive music videos, conceived and directed by BEX, offer insight into her creative vision, while her live performances are elevated by unique stage decorations, including charity-shopped creepy doll toys.

Following a successful headline tour in 2023 and recent performances with St. Agnes, BEX is gearing up for an exciting festival season in 2024. Catch her live at Girls, Gays and Theys Festival, Burn It Down Festival, and 2000trees Festival, where she'll take the main stage to showcase her dynamic sound and captivating stage presence.
