Mt. Onsra announce new album ‘Sacred Time’

UK South-west duo Mt. Onsra have announced their second album, Sacred Time, is set to drop on June 28th via their own independent label, South of Devon Records.

SImon Allen & Russell Cleave, the talented pair behind Mt. Onsra, are self-releasing this album, just as they did with their debut, Written in Silence, which came out in 2022. However, unlike their first album, which was entirely recorded remotely over WhatsApp during lockdown, Sacred Time was brought to life in a studio.

At the core of Sacred Time is a tale of friendship and collaboration between Allen and Cleave, who have been making music together since their school days. The album's lead single, “Emergent”, sets the tone with its expansive soundscapes and introspective lyrics. Cleave explains, "This time I was sent a basic outline with vocals to expand on and arrange into a song, experimenting with and building the dynamics as I went." Allen adds, "It’s a song about acceptance."

The music video for '“Emergent” draws inspiration from Allen and Cleave's formative years in school, where their focus shifted from academics to music. The inclusion of a female protagonist reflects their experiences of having female friends who shared their passion for music, particularly death metal.

Allen and Cleave's musical journey dates back to 1995 when they formed a band together. After parting ways and pursuing individual projects for two decades, they reunited during the global pandemic to create music remotely. This collaboration resulted in Written in Silence, and now, Sacred Time represents the next chapter in their creative journey.

With influences ranging from alternative rock to folk, Mt. Onsra's music defies genre boundaries. Their songs are emotive and introspective, offering listeners a glimpse into the duo's search for meaning and connection. Sacred Time promises to further explore these themes with tracks like 'Fever Dream', 'Integration', and 'The Depths We Dive'.
