Bug Teeth share new single “Landscaping”
Bug Teeth, the fast-rising experimental dream pop band, have shared their poignant new single, "Landscaping," via Come Play With Me Records / EMI North.
The track, which marks Bug Teeth's first collaboration with producer Joel Patchett (known for his work with The Orielles), delves into frontperson PJ's experience of grief with its glitching drums, flute, and cavernous shoegaze guitar. It's a departure from their usual sound, yet it retains the band's signature dreamy aesthetic while exploring themes of loss and transformation.
PJ Johnson, the band's lead vocalist and songwriter, shares insights into the song's meaning, stating:
“Landscaping is about how grief rewrites your memories of the person you lost, and how the landscape of your life reforms itself to fit around the gap they left. The track feels like the culmination of everything envisaged for Bug Teeth as a full band. Musically, it was built from the ground up by Alex and Sonny, but inflected with lyrics from me that are both deeply personal and dreamily fragmentary”
Bug Teeth are also preparing for a pair of headline shows in March, with performances at Leeds' Belgrave Music Hall on the 24th and London's Windmill on the 27th. These shows follow the band's successful appearances at festivals like Latitude, Deer Shed, and Live At Leeds, as well as sold-out gigs with acts such as Melody's Echo Chamber and English Teacher.
