Coughin' Vicars sign to Venn Records and announce new album ‘Curses & Prayers’
Coughin' Vicars, the dynamic Liverpool DIY punk band, is thrilled to announce their signing with Venn Records and the upcoming release of their new album Curses & Prayers on 26 July.
To give fans a taste of what’s to come, the band released “Until The Feeling Turns Cold”, an upbeat track that combines a New Romantic vocal style with a vibrant melody that speaks to both the exhilaration and discomfort of the summer months. As the album’s lead single, it sets a promising tone for the kind of introspective and energetic punk that Coughin' Vicars is celebrated for.
Vocalist Roman Regal reflects on the inspiration behind the track, emphasizing the productivity that comes with cooler climates compared to the lethargy induced by summer’s heat. The song delves into themes of seizing the moment and resisting the passivity that warmer weather can bring.
Produced by guitarist Adam Clarkson at Vagrant Studios in Southport and mixed by the band themselves, Curses & Prayers promises to be a significant addition to the punk scene, blending classic influences with a modern edge. The album also features contributions from composer and saxophonist Daniel Thorne, known for his work with Erased Tapes.
The band is set to support the album with a series of live performances across the UK, including a notable appearance at the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool on 1 August and an album release show in Liverpool/Southport on 26 July.
