Honey Joy release new track "Ready Now" ahead of forthcoming album 'III'

South London punk band Honey Joy are back with a brand-new single, "Ready Now," the final teaser from their upcoming album III, set to release on 5 July via Everything Sucks Music. The new track is an emotional anthem about rediscovering the power of music after a period of numbness.

In "Ready Now," vocalist Megan Tinsley shares a personal journey of reconnecting with music following the challenging years of working in an overwhelmed central London NHS hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Megan explains:

"Ready Now" follows the release of "Penelope," a heartfelt ode to friendship, and "Language," a track that explores the importance of articulating opinions and feelings. Guitarist Matt Tinsley mentions, “'Language' is an idea I've been playing with since our first album. Jay (Jason Cavalier - drums) suggested making it more Tom Petty and here we are.”

The upcoming album III delves into a range of themes, from living life without compromise in "Live 100%" to addressing frustrations with chronic health and mental health issues in "Never Better." The album closes with "Thursdays at 8pm," a powerful critique of the government's handling of Covid-19. Megan expresses her fury, stating, “The government's handling of Covid was negligent and gaslighting. I will never forget.” Matt adds, “I lost my Grandad to Covid. The thought of him being alone when he passed due to government negligence is still a painful and enraging memory. I think he would be really proud of Meg for her work as a nurse during Covid, and her lyrics in this song. Fuck this government a million times over.”

‘III’ was recorded with Wayne Adams at BearBitesHorse in East London, close to where they recorded their second album II. Honey Joy humorously note:

“There’s a pretty great falafel place down the road.”
