Last Hounds drop new single “Growing Pains” ahead of the ‘Hi-Stakes Tour’

Last Hounds have made serious strides in 2024, solidifying their reputation as one of the most exciting acts in the hardcore punk and nu-metal scene. Fresh off a blistering set at Brixton Academy supporting NOFX and a storming performance at Hellfest, the Midlands-based five-piece are back with their new single, “Growing Pains”. Released through Venn Records (the label that discovered the likes of Bob Vylan, High Vis, and Witch Fever), the track is an explosive anthem packed with the signature blend of melody, aggression, and swagger that fans have come to expect.

Vocalist Mikey Skelcher describes “Growing Pains” as a deeply personal reflection on self-reliance and resilience, touching on the inevitable changes and losses that come with age.

Skelcher explains:

"The song dives into the crutches we all lean on — people, places, and moments that keep us grounded. But as life moves on, and those safety nets are taken away, you're left to face things on your own."

Bassist Ben Taylor echoes these sentiments, highlighting the brutal reality of adulthood, where no one shows you the ropes, leaving you to figure it out as you go.

Recorded at Lower Lane Studios with producer Sam Bloor (who has worked with bands like Graphic Nature and Blanket), “Growing Pains” captures the raw, high-energy sound Last Hounds are known for, combining influences from bands like letlive and Comeback Kid. The single sets the stage for their upcoming run on the Hi-Stakes Tour, a rotating punk rock showcase featuring The Last Gang, Split Dogs, and Clobber. Running from September 15 to 22, the tour hits cities across the UK, from Newcastle to London, giving fans a chance to witness the chaos Last Hounds bring to the stage. If their live performances are anything like “Growing Pains”, it's clear that Last Hounds are a band to watch closely in the punk scene.
