Pillow Queens share new single “Like A Lesson”

Irish indie rockers Pillow Queens have gifted fans a taste of their upcoming third studio album, Name Your Sorrow set to drop on 19 April via Royal Mountain Records with the release of their latest single, “Like A Lesson”.

The track, accompanied by an official video, explores the complexities of longing for intimacy and the inherent fears that accompany vulnerability.

The guitar-driven anthem delves into the delicate balance between the desire for closeness and the anxiety of making mistakes in matters of the heart.

Pillow Queens reflect on the theme, stating:

“The notion of finding safety and comfort in the presence of love of limerence is emphasized, contrasting with the paralyzing fear of making mistakes or ruining your life or someone else’s. It delves into the feeling of being a lesson for someone, a side character in someone else’s story.”

“Like A Lesson” navigates the thin line between fear and desire, with lead vocalist, bassist, and guitarist Pamela Connolly poignantly expressing, "I don’t wanna ruin my life/But I wanna go home with you." The track skillfully captures the essence of vulnerability and the inherent risk involved in opening oneself up to love.

Pillow Queens reveal that the song evolved into a fusion of each band member's musical influences, ranging from Blur and REM to Semisonic, New Radicals, and Squeeze. Initially drawing inspiration from country music, “Like A Lesson” transformed into a dynamic piece that pays homage to the band's diverse musical tastes, emerging as the 90s soft rock gem on their upcoming album.

Additionally, the band has announced an exciting series of live performances across the UK this June, culminating in their biggest show to date at Dublin, Ireland's Iveagh Gardens on 13 July.
