Peel share latest single “Cycle”

Peel the art rock duo from Foster The People’s Sean Cimino and Isom Innis, have released their latest single "Cycle," taken from their forthcoming debut album Acid Star, scheduled for release on 29 March via Innovative Leisure.

Having honed their musical partnership during their time as touring members of Foster The People, Cimino and Innis have crafted a distinct musical identity with Peel, drawing inspiration from eclectic sources such as Primal Scream and Happy Mondays.

"Cycle" showcases Peel's knack for blending industrial edge with elements of psychedelia, electronica, and folk. The track features an intricate interplay of arpeggiating synths and a catchy bassline, punctuated by haunting vocal refrains. The accompanying visualizer adds an extra dimension to the song's atmospheric allure.

The release of "Cycle" follows a string of successful singles from Acid Star, including "Y2J," a psychedelic dance track with dream pop influences, "Acid Star," a mesmerizing blend of acoustic guitars and hallucinatory vibes, and "Climax," a genre-defying convergence of post-punk, electronica, and psychedelia.

In crafting Acid Star, Peel delved into the music that shaped their formative years, tapping into the raw energy and spontaneity of their childhood influences. Tracks like "Y2J" pay homage to the era of Y2K, while "Climax" draws inspiration from the eponymous Gaspar Noé film, blending elements of Nile Rodgers' funk with Spoon's indie sensibilities.

Bookended by ethereal ballads like "Acid Star" and "The Cloak," Acid Star showcases Peel's ability to marry acoustic warmth with melodic sophistication. Reflecting on the album's lyrical depth, Cimino explains the significance of phrases like "acid star," which evoke a sense of transcendent significance beyond everyday language.

With Acid Star, Peel invites listeners on a journey through a sonic landscape where genre boundaries blur and musical influences collide, offering a glimpse into a world where the past and present intersect in captivating ways.
