The Howlers share new single “Cowboys Don’t Cry”
East London trio The Howlers are back with their latest single, “Cowboys Don’t Cry,” taken from their highly anticipated debut album, What You've Got to Lose to Win It All, set to release on 17 May.
Described as an epic, 15-track collection of expansive, cinematic earworms, the album was produced by Black Honey and embodies The Howlers’ resilience, friendship, and unconditional love amidst unimaginable pain.
Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of influences, including the film scores of Ennio Morricone and John Willams, as well as desert blues pioneers like Tinariwen, Kurt Vile, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and Father John Misty, The Howlers offer a refreshing take on guitar-driven rock.
“Cowboys Don’t Cry” follows the success of their previous singles, “Lady Luck” and “El Dorado”. The song sees frontman Adam delving into his own vulnerabilities, reflecting on the challenges of youth and the struggle to find one's place in the world.
Adam shares his personal journey through the poignant lyrics of "Cowboys Don't Cry," recounting his experiences of feeling isolated and misunderstood as a young boy. He opens up about the difficulties he faced socially, often retreating to the safety of a toilet cubicle during lunch breaks. Despite his struggles, Adam acknowledges the unwavering support of his parents, expressing gratitude for their resilience and love during his darkest moments.
With its emotive storytelling and captivating soundscapes, “Cowboys Don’t Cry” reaffirms The Howlers' status as one of the most exciting emerging bands in the UK music scene. As anticipation builds for their debut album release in May, fans can expect an immersive musical journey that transcends conventional boundaries.
