The Linda Lindas share the ferocious title track of new LP ‘No Obligation’

LA-based punk rockers The Linda Lindas have unleashed "No Obligation," the fierce and rebellious title track from their upcoming album No Obligation, out 11 October via Epitaph Records. From the opening roar of Eloise Wong, declaring, “I don’t got no obligation,” the track sets the tone for an album determined to defy expectations and tear down barriers.

Speaking about the song, the band explained:

"Eloise wrote this ripper because we won’t adhere to what anyone thinks we should sound like or who they think we are. We don’t make music out of obligation—we make music out of love.

The accompanying video, directed by the band, was filmed in Japan and features Naoko from the legendary band Shonen Knife, adding a vibrant visual to their already dynamic sound.

The Linda Lindas continue to mix genres effortlessly, blending L.A. punk with post-punk, power pop, and even rock en español. Written and recorded over the past two years, the album No Obligation represents the band’s continued evolution while balancing their lives as students. With members still juggling high school and middle school schedules, they’ve managed to craft an album that is mature in its themes but youthful in its energy, maintaining their distinct mix of joy, rage, and defiance.

Since their viral performance of "Racist, Sexist, Boy," The Linda Lindas have been the torchbearers of modern punk, unapologetically addressing social issues while staying true to the DIY ethos of the scene. No Obligation is shaping up to be a further testament to their fearless approach to both music and life, as they continue to write and perform with passion, sincerity, and a sense of community.

Currently, the band is on the road with punk icons Green Day, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Rancid on The Saviors Tour, playing to massive crowds across North America. Alongside their main tour dates, The Linda Lindas are also squeezing in headlining shows, giving fans a chance to catch them in more intimate settings. After a whirlwind few years, including performances at Coachella and Lollapalooza, the band is showing no signs of slowing down.

The Linda Lindas' sophomore release No Obligation is now available for pre-order, and promises to build on the success of their 2022 debut Growing Up, which was lauded by publications like The New York Times and Pitchfork. With their blend of ferocious punk and heartfelt lyricism, The Linda Lindas are solidifying their place in the future of punk rock.
