BEX shares new single "Sum Kinda Syko", tackling harassment in the scene

BEX is back with a powerful statement in the form of her latest single, "Sum Kinda Syko", a searing reflection on personal experiences with harassment. Self-released and unapologetically raw, the track sees BEX venting frustrations with someone who crossed boundaries, turning admiration into invasive behaviour that couldn’t be ignored.

Talking about the track BEX said:

“‘Syko’ represents someone who slowly became overwhelming over a two-year period,. They crossed lines, and things escalated to a point where it was dangerous. The song is about how this person couldn't accept boundaries.”

Musically, "Sum Kinda Syko" is a gritty, bass-driven slice of nu-punk that echoes the urgency of its lyrics. Its blunt approach strips away any ambiguity, putting BEX’s experience front and centre, refusing to let the subject slip through the cracks. The unvarnished lyrics, which BEX describes as "blunt" and "comedic" in their sheer honesty, elevate the song’s message while exposing the seriousness of the issue.

Fans eager to get their hands on a physical copy of "Sum Kinda Syko" can pre-order a special CD bundle, which includes all of BEX’s 2024 singles alongside a zine, beanie, and other exclusive merch, all designed by the artist herself. The CD bundle will be available at her headline show at Omeara in London on 1 November.

BEX has been steadily carving out a space for herself on the live circuit, having already stormed the stages of 2000trees, Download, and Burn It Down festivals this year. She’s set to close out 2024 with headline and support slots, including a debut headline show at Omeara, London, and a gig with WARGASM in Stoke-on-Trent. Her electrifying performances have earned her a loyal following, with fans embracing her ethos of creating a space where everyone can feel safe.

"Sum Kinda Syko" follows BEX’s 2024 singles “Taste Better”, “sunDae”, and “Fight”, all of which have garnered airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio, while her debut EP SCUM, released via Scruff of the Neck Records in 2023, marked her as one to watch. In typical DIY fashion, BEX has a hand in everything she creates, from hand-stitched merch to music videos that reflect her singular artistic vision.
