Winona Fighter announce debut album ‘My Apologies To The Chef’

Winona Fighter has officially revealed details of their debut album My Apologies To The Chef, set for release on 14 February 2024 via Rise Records. Known for their raw, unapologetic punk sound, the Nashville trio have already made waves across the festival circuit this year, and fans can now mark their calendars for what promises to be an explosive Valentine’s Day release.

Alongside the announcement, the band has dropped the single "Attention", an unapologetically fierce track that pulls no punches in addressing the societal issues frontwoman Coco Kinnon says have been “unchecked for far too long.” The song tackles everything from the opioid crisis to healthcare struggles and the ethical concerns surrounding puppy mills. Its political bite comes at a poignant moment as the U.S. approaches a major election year, and the band isn’t afraid to call on fans to engage in their local and national elections.

Kinnon’s DIY ethos shines through the album, which she says was crafted alongside bandmates Dan Fuson (guitar) and Austin Luther (bass/producer) in their home studio. Reflecting on the recording process.

Kinnon describes it as:

“14 hard-hitting tracks straight from a guest bedroom or garage. It's raw. It’s got emotion. It’s got a little satire. Mostly, it’s uniquely us.”

That rawness is certainly evident in "Attention", a track brimming with defiance and punk rock fury, perfectly setting the tone for what’s to come on My Apologies To The Chef.

This album follows a whirlwind year for Winona Fighter. Having smashed performances at Bonnaroo, Riot Fest, and SXSW, the band has built a reputation for their intense live shows. Whether supporting the likes of Incubus, Badflower, or Bayside, or holding their own on festival stages, they’ve become known for their no-nonsense, inclusive approach to punk rock. “Everyone is welcome, equal and needs to get on their fucking feet,” Kinnon has previously said of their live ethos.

With earlier singles like "I'm In The Market To Please No One" and "Swear To God That I'm (FINE)" already setting the stage, My Apologies To The Chef looks to be the culmination of years of hard graft. Winona Fighter is here to stay, and they’re doing it on their own terms.
