The Menstrual Cramps ignite with video for "Class War" ahead of explosive UK tour

Bristol-based punk provocateurs The Menstrual Cramps have unleashed a hard-hitting video for their banging single, "Class War" released via Alcopop! Records. As the band gears up for a UK tour this October with cosmic punks WACO, the track continues their fierce advocacy for worker’s rights, a message that's becoming increasingly urgent in the political climate.

The video, directed by self-taught filmmaker Cheri Clouds, serves as a love letter to Bristol’s anarchist roots.

Vocalist Emilia Elfrida (they/she) explaining:

“We were inspired by Bristol’s DIY scene and the legacy of organisations like Class War”.

The video also marks a poignant moment for the band, being the final release featuring guitarist Zam Windsor (he/him), who has stepped back to focus on his mental health.

"Class War" is more than just a track—it’s a fiery anthem for collective action. Elfrida breaks it down:

“Workers' rights are under siege, and unionising is the most effective way to fight back. But we can’t ignore how unions themselves need to shift from being dominated by old white men. Workers' rights are women’s rights too. Always support strikers—never cross a picket line!”

Since their formation in 2017, The Menstrual Cramps have made a name for themselves as queer punk agitators, delivering raw, unfiltered music that confronts social and political issues head-on. Their 2024 EP ACAB, released on Alcopop! Records, cemented their position as one of the most unflinching voices in punk today. After storming festivals like Manchester Punk Festival and Boomtown, their presence is hard to ignore.

The Menstrual Cramps are no strangers to controversy either. Earlier this year, they spearheaded the Bands Boycott Barclays campaign, which forced The Great Escape festival to cut ties with Barclaycard due to the bank’s links to arms companies. The move garnered support from big names like Brian Eno and Massive Attack, with over 150 artists joining in solidarity.

Now, the band is set to bring their explosive live shows to fans across the UK this October. If ACAB and "Class War" are anything to go by, these gigs will be nothing short of electric. Don’t miss out.
